Dietary Principles & Science of Nutrition

DIETARY PRINCIPLES
Transcribed from teachings of  Kriyayoga Master & Scientist - Guruji Swami Shree Yogi Satyam
When we prepare food following the guide- lines of the Kriyayoga Food and Diet principles, we not only prepare food that is best for us, but also, the true purpose of eating is fulfilled. Why do we eat food? Contrary to general belief, food is not a complete source of energy. This has been well proven by many people who eat very little but have demonstrated tremendous capacity to do a lot of work.
The word of God means Cosmic vibratory om- nipotent, omniscient creative principle. And mouth of God means medulla oblongata. The medulla is the principle entrance for the body’s supply of universal creative principle - life force.
There are many realized souls who demon- strated powerful and dutiful life without consum- ing any kind of food. One example is the non- eating woman saint - Yogini Giri Bala of Bengal, India. She was practising a certain Kriyayoga  technique which enabled her to live without eating. A second example is the Catholic Stigmatist of Bavaria, Germany, Therese Neumann, who did not con- sume food or water from 1927 to 1962. Both examples have been very well written by Paramhansa Yogananda in his autobiography.
Our  principle  source  of  day-to-day   energy  is the  principle  of Truth we live...
Our principle source of day-to-day energy is the principle of Truth we live. If we live a complete truthful life, then we will demonstrate energy like Jesus Christ, Bhagavan Ram and Krishna, Kabir, Nanak, Lahiri Mahasaya and Mahavatar Babaji. A person living a complete truthful life is always realising his existence beyond time and space.
So, why do we really eat? The real purpose of eating is to fulfill a very important role. As humans, and being more evolved compared to other creations - atoms and molecules, plants and animals, it is our duty to serve them. How can we serve them? When we eat food, we offer good service to the water, air and sky elements are converted to our existence and thus they are uplifted to a higher state of human- consciousness. By this we demonstrate higher service towards food molecules.
Important Guidelines for Intake of Food:
1) We should observe proper time gaps be- tween the intake of food. In general, there are 3 areas of digestion – mouth, stomach and intestines. The food is in the mouth for a very short time. Therefore, only very lim- ited digestion takes place in the mouth. Food takes about 2 to 2.5 hours to be digested in the stomach and 4 to 5.5 hours to be di- gested in the intestines. The time taken to digest food is dependent on what we eat and the quantity of food that we eat. In general, we should observe a time gap of at least 6 to 8 hours between consumption of any kind of food.
2) Adults should refrain from snacking. When we take snacks between meals, extra digestive juices and bile will need to be produced by the system, causing additional strain on the different organs of the digestive system, such as the liver, intestines and pancreas. This causes the respective organs to be overworked and as a result, may cause the organs to malfunction. Other organs may also become affected as a result.
3) Milk and milk products should be limited if not avoided altogether. Intake of milk can cause many complications to arise, if it is not properly digested. Under various conditions, milk is left undigested. The milk protein molecules are small and so, are easily absorbed into the blood system. These molecules are transported all over the body and have a high chance of being deposited in different organs, especially in the lower organs such as the prostrate and ovaries, due to gravitational pull. This deposition can cause serious health issues such as tumour or cancer.
Milk should be completely avoided in the following combinations:
- with fruit ( Milk is mainly digested in the stomach and requires a low acidic medium for digestion. When taken with fruit, it is quickly transported to the intes- tine by the pulp of the fruit. As such, only minimal digestion of the milk occurs.
- with any high protein substances such as lentils. Lentils require a high acidic medium for digestion while milk requires a low acidic medium. With the presence of lentils in the stomach, the milk, therefore, is left undigested and moves in this undigested form into the intestine where it is readily absorbed into the blood stream. As described above in a., this can cause severe health issues.
4) All types of grains should be taken as a whole. Lentils should be consumed along with the covering sheath. The covering sheath is essential to hold together the di- cotyledonous seeds of the lentils. By removing the covering, we are discarding the most essential part of the seed- the bond of unity, which serves to hold together the dicotyledonous seed. When we do this, our body reacts similarly. One by one the organs begin to separate from the body and we develop illnesses such as arthritis or problems of the liver and heart. Similarly, it is best to take red or brown rice - where minimal or no portion of the covering sheath has been removed. Most people are attracted to the whiteness of the polished rice and think that it is cleaner and better. This is untrue. Unpolished rice is best for the intestines and our system as a whole.
5) Vegetables should be consumed in their matured stage, when we can cut any portion of the vegetable and plant it to grow into a tree. Vegetables having a thin peel should be cooked without being peeled. Examples of such vegetables are potatoes, carrots and squash. The peels contain essential nutrients that are required by us .  Vegetables with a hard peel should be thoroughly rinsed in water before lightly scraping the hard covering.
6) It is best to eat the whole fruit instead of taking juice of fruits. The pulp of the fruit has essential nutritional elements. Fruits should be washed well and eaten along with the peel and seed as far as possible. If the peel and seeds are too hard or rough to consume, they can be softened by boiling in water. Seeds can also be planted to grow into trees.
7) We should take sugar-cane candy (gura), in-place of the chemically-processed white refined sugar to sweeten our tea and coffee or any other food substances. Gura is having all kinds of minerals and iron we need in day-to-day life. Most importantly, we should observe the  golden rule of eating only when we are truly hungry... then we will eat the simplest food that is best for us...

SCIENCE OF NUTRITION
By Swami Shree Yogi Satyam
Purpose of Eating
             To maintain complete health
To maintain and protect structure and function of Digestive System
To uplift plants, atoms (i.e. water, air) and radiations to Human consciousness
We should think of the welfare of all food products we are eating. If our process of eating is not improving their existence, is not enlightening their presence, is not uplifting their glory, then whatever we are doing is called ignorant practice.
Different Types of Visible Creation:
1. Atoms - Stone, water, air, different rays / radiations
- No Differentiation of Organs
We are not able to find their brain, spinal cord and different parts but they are blessed by one power; that they are able to maintain their form for many, many years. They do not undergo any process of quick change.
2. Plants
- There is differentiation of organs
Head (Roots)- located underneath the ground and other parts are pointing upwards toward the sky. Because of this, there is some degree of mobility in the plants. However, if there is a flood, or if there is a fire hazard, plants cannot move. They stay there and they are destroyed.
3. Animals
-Head and spine are parallel to the ground and they have more freedom of movement.
The shifting position of nucleus, which we call ‘root’ (HEAD), creates a big change in freedom.  In animals, they migrate.  They move from one place to another.  If there is an unfavourable condition, they move.

4.  Human Beings
-Head (root) is up and everything else is below (like an upturned tree). In this state, we have maximum freedom compared to the three previous types of creation. Therefore, this is the special structure, in which root is up towards the sky, which we call ‘head’ and the main stem (spine) is downward and other things which we call afferent and efferent nerves and other branches, they are like branches of a tree— they are downward. This special structure is called “Ashwathahaa” in the great spiritual text, Shrimad Bhagavad Gita. (15:1)
What is the difference in all? ATOMS-
In the stone, there is no function of life force.  There is only one consciousness
which is functional called ‘ANNAMAYA KOSHA”.
This is the structure where life is non-functional or functioning very little (just like the movement of electrons). Life does not have its full function and therefore, there is no differentiation of organs. Then you can consume it easily.
Therefore, when we inhale air, it is immediately mixed with the blood. When we drink water, it is immediately mixing with head to toes and immediately they are uplifted. The mixing of oxygen with all parts of body from head to toes, allows their upliftment from the atom consciousness directly to Human consciousness. We, human beings, have better freedom and therefore these atoms are helped.
PLANTS-
In plants, the life force becomes active.
When life force becomes active then there is differentiation of organs. Now we have to think of the glory of plants. We should not disturb their growth and development. When the plant is growing, let it grow up to the highest, mature stage and then you will realize that as the plant matures it eventually undergoes a natural drying process.
At this stage, we should harvest the plant. Before this, we should not cut the plant. We should not cut down green trees.
When we are protecting plants and helping them to reach their ultimate mature stage then after they dry, we can collect their seeds and fruits.  Then use the majority quantity of seeds to cultivate again. This helps their lifestyle. If we cannot cultivate all (sow the seeds) then we can help them by eating the remaining seeds with the understanding that the maximum portion of it should be transferred into human consciousness. In this way we are helping the plant product directly from the plant to human consciousness. We are crossing over the one stage of animal consciousness directly— a leap from plant to human consciousness. In this way we are helping plants.

ANIMALS-
In animals, sense organs and mind become functional. When plants reach to mature stage, we harvest them. We cannot think in the same way for animals.
When you cut and kill the animal, the highest evolved consciousness, which we call sensory organs and mind, are invisible. Senses are invisible. Ears, skin, eyes, tongue and nose— they are not senses. They are the apparatus through which the senses are working. Our sense of vision functions through the apparatus called the eyes. In the same way, the ear, skin, nose and tongue, they are not senses. They are different structures that are associated with the senses.
Therefore, when senses are evolved and functional and mind is evolved and functional, they are astral in nature. You cannot see them. Therefore, when we cut and kill animals, we disturb their complete growth.  If we are able to use their senses and mind, and eat that invisible astral portion also, then we  can convert animal consciousness into our human consciousness.
Then and only then are we helping them but we are not able to do that. Therefore, killing of animals is a great, great sin. We should never do that because by eating them we cannot help them. We are disturbing their life span. Therefore, we should never have any thought of killing any animals or eating them.
We should help animals to grow. Help birds, cats, dogs, all kinds of animals. We should never create fear in them.
Complete Nutrition
Major portion of our required nutrition should be received in the form of subtle vibration through the Medulla (Mouth of God). This can be compared to gasoline fuel of a car.
Food in the form of solid, liquid and gas can be compared to oil used in the car. Therefore, the major portion of daily energy we need should be received through the medulla.
Our life is less dependent on the food what we eat through the mouth (oral cavity)
Oral Ingestion of Foods
Eat Complete Foods which are fully mature as much as possible
Each and every whole grain has complete nutrition what a person requires
Some grains should be eaten in larger quantities and some in smaller quantities (i.e. Rice in larger quantities vs. sesame or flax in smaller amounts)
Eating in this style, with the correct idea of uplifting atom and plant creations, will promote good health and will not result in any nutritional deficiencies of any kind (i.e. B12, iron or folic acid deficiencies)
WHOLE GRAINS (i.e. wheat kernel)
Bran
- About 14% of kernel weight
- High fibre outer coating
Endosperm
- About 83% of kernel weight
- Source of carbohydrate and some protein
Germ
- About 3% of wheat kernel
- Dense in nutrients (especially protein)
- Embryo of sprouting section of the seed

What is Hunger?
Hunger is experienced by two consciousnesses within:
1. Ego Consciousness and
2. Intuition Consciousness
Ego’s judgement is based on following illusions and delusions while Intuition has perfect knowledge of real hunger (need of food).
Ego practises eating phenomena guided by memory of smell, taste, vision and false reasoning and commits mistake all the time in the process of eating, selection of food, cultivation and production.
Researches done by Ego consciousness are based on temptation.  Ego consciousness refers those people whose intuition is dormant.
Blind Mind is always a powerful agent of Ego and always works with the power of temptation.
Blind Mind and senses - all have great strength from Habit.
Blind Mind takes help of exciting blood in the form of anger to do any work.

Five senses and five organs of action, together support Blind Mind with all power.

Kundalini –The Treasure Within

By Sadhguru
The  word kundalini[1] generally refers to that dimension of energy, which is yet to realize its potential. There is a huge volume of energy within you which is yet to find its potential. It is just there waiting, because what you call as a human being is still in the making. You are not yet a human being, you are a “human becoming.” You are not an absolute entity of being human. There is constant scope to make yourself into a better human being.
When you were a monkey, you did not desire to become a man. Nature just pushed you on. But once you become human, there is no more unconscious evolution. If you are unconscious, the same endless cycle of the same nonsense will go on and on. If you seek evolution consciously, it will come to you. Now if you become conscious, evolution or any change cannot happen without the necessary energy. For this process to happen, the process of evolution allowed a huge volume of energy untapped, that if you become conscious, you could use this to make something fantastic out of it.  It is a treasure on which you are sitting. If you are looking in the wrong direction, you will never know that there is a treasure.
Everybody is sitting on a jackpot, but they are all looking in other directions.
It happened once. There was a beggar who lived in terrible poverty. He just sat under a tree and begged. People threw a few coins, and he just lived on. One day he died and his body was just lying there. No friends and relatives, nobody wants to carry him somewhere and bury him. So they decided to just bury him right there under the tree. So people started digging, and then they hit upon a huge treasure. Just a few feet beneath him there had been a huge treasure, a huge pot full of gold and the fool was sitting right there all his life, begging. If only he had dug down, he would have been a very rich man. But he sat there all the time being a beggar.
This is the way of the kundalini. It is sitting right there. Everybody is sitting on a jackpot, but they are all looking in other directions. They are not looking where the treasure is. So they never realize something like this is there. Kundalini is that treasure within you which has been left unused, untapped. You could use that energy to transform this into a completely different dimension altogether; a dimension that you cannot imagine.
Question : What is Kundalini?
Sadhguru
Let me take you from your own experience of life because the stories about it are many. In your house, there is a plug-point in the wall. The plug-point in the wall does not produce any power. Somewhere else there is a huge power station which is producing the power, but it cannot give you power directly. It is the plug-point which gives you the power. Most people have not even thought about the power station, isn’t it? They have no conception of what that is, but they know that if they plug an appliance into the plug-point, the appliance will run.
So Kundalini is the plug-point not the power station. It is not a 3-pin point, it is a 5-pin point. You might have heard of the seven chakras. The muladhara is like a plug-point. That is why it is known as muladhara; it means “fundamental” or “basic.” Five of the remaining six chakras are the plug. What is the seventh chakra? It is like a light bulb; if you plug it in, then everything about you glows. If you are properly plugged in, keeping the lights on twenty-four hours of the day is not an issue anymore. Now you don’t have to turn off your power because your battery might run out. You can just keep it on blatantly, recklessly, because you are plugged into the power source.
Even right now you still have energy. You can hear what I am saying, that means life energies are functioning of course, but in a very miniscule way; just a small part of it is functioning. If the whole of it becomes available to you, if it is properly plugged in, there is no limit to what you can do out of it. Even with the plug-point at home, once you are plugged in, you can make the light happen, you can get the air conditioning going, you can have the heater, you can have the television – anything you want. Just one power point. Any number of things, endless number of things you can do, but you are not plugged in.
You are trying to generate your own power. So you eat five times a day, but still you are tired most of the time. It is a struggle to keep life going. Energy is not just in terms of physical energy or activity, energy is in terms of life; existence is energy, isn’t it? The basis of existence is energy. Knowing that is like knowing the foundations of life. If you understand the ways of the energy, you know the whole mechanics of creation. So if you are plugged in, you don’t know how power is generated but you know what the power is, what it can do and what you can make out of it; you are plugged into an endless source of power – that is Kundalini.
Now to plug in an appliance, if your hands are shaky, you will scratch the whole wall but you will not get it in. In the same way, to put the 5-point plug into the plug-point is difficult for a lot of people because there is no steadiness in their body, their mind, their emotions or their energies. All this yoga is just to get the necessary steadiness so that you can just plug it there; if you put it there, boundless energy. You don’t have to go and learn about and understand the power station. You plug it in; everything is fine.
Yoga is just the science of getting the plug properly in so that there is an uninterrupted source of power. Once you are connected to this uninterrupted source of power, naturally you will proceed in the way life should. Naturally you will proceed towards the goal of what life is longing for. You will not get lost with your fancy ideas, dreams, thoughts, emotions or entanglements of the world.

2012 – Conversations with Yogiraj Siddhanath

2012 – Conversations with Himalayan Kundalini Kriya Yoga Master Yogiraj Siddhanath

Interview by Joseph McDonald, with editorial contributions from Abhiraj D. and Mark D.
Our guest today, June 6, 2011, is Master Yogiraj SatGurunath Siddhanath, who we are extremely blessed to spend time with. Yogiraj Siddhanath is a Kriya Yoga Master from the ancient Indian Nath lineage, Householder Kriya Yogi, UN keynote speaker, and author of numerous acclaimed books and the award-winning DVD, “Wings to Freedom.” A Master is one who has tamed the mental storm, and Yogiraj has done so. Living 24 hours in a state of super-conscious bliss, Yogiraj has made his mind subservient to his natural “no-mind” Awareness, and teaches his yoga and meditation methods to help ordinary people master their own minds while carrying on work and family duties.
Vision Magazine: I want to start off by saying, I read, (and now listen to) your book, “Wings to Freedom.” So many questions about our existence are addressed in your book. Downloading the audio version of your book gave me unexpected benefits. I feel energized each time I listen to you as you narrate your story. I also noticed when I watch your videos on YouTube.com/HamsaYogi I see light coming into my room! It is really magical! It is amazing that people can receive your spiritual transmission via technology. Could you comment on how modern day technology is used to transmit spiritual Shakti?
Yogiraj: Well, my endeavor has always been to transmit spiritual energy which they call Shaktipat (Transmission of Kundalini) and Pranapat (Breath) and Shivapat (Transmission of Soul Consciousness) through the media, whether that be electronic or otherwise. I am able to partially accomplish this by raising my Kundalini energy and projecting it as a life-force, as a healing energy through my voice via the television or the telephone. If my voice can transmit life-force energy called Prana and healing energy through electronic media and to the people, this would be a great service to humanity and I would be very honored to be a server of humanity in this way. And by God’s grace, it appears to be working.
VM: Since we are discussing technology and spirituality, I will continue to ask some more science related questions. Modern science tends to explore fundamental energy (like dark matter) using costly external endeavors (such as multibillion dollar particle-accelerators). Do spiritual masters have access and control over these energies and are there ways to access these energies through internal means?
Yogiraj: These energies and this dark matter are still in a hypothetical stage and there is no conclusive proof yet, and so we are all making progress in our endeavor to unravel the mysteries of the universe. I have written about this in my new book called “Babaji, the Lightening Standing Still.” In the Appendix, I have written what is called “The Doctrine of the Divine I,” where I speak of gravity—Gurutva-Akarshan as the Supreme Guru—and by how by the power of gravity we can unravel the mysteries of the Universe. To bridge the gap between the subtlest matter (light) and consciousness, and because there is a huge quantum leap between light and consciousness, I have used the terminology called the Lightless-Light, which is really the descending consciousness. Lightless-Light is the ascent of light which meets the descent of a grosser consciousness, thus bridging the gap.
I have also mentioned the center of the black hole, which Indian Yogis discovered thousands of years ago and talked about as the Krishna Vivar, that is, the dark vortex or the Mahankal, which is the great beyond time and an epithet for Lord Shiva. As you go into this intense mystical vortex, you go into what is called the Nagna Satya or the Naked Truth, which is equivalent to the Singularity. Meditating Yogis have found that Singularity in their minds; as they go into such a peak concentration of the in-depth phenomena, there shines in the intensest darkness, a Star of Lightless-Light. What is this light which appears when matter and light and causation and time have been swallowed up by the Mahankal or the black hole? This is called the Lightless-Light or the Alakh Niranjan, and this is the star which shines as the Lightless-Light which gives liberation and salvation to the whole universe and to the Gods, to the Trinity on a cosmic scale [Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva or Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost]. This star of Lightless-Light happens in the individual Self in the third eye and gives enlightenment to the individual just as the cosmic Lightless-Light in the center of the black hole gives liberation to our Trinity of the Creator Brahma, the Preserver Vishnu, and the final dissolving truth, Shiva. Just as the scientists mention dark matter, I mention the Lightless-Light, and I would like you to read through this sometime when you get an opportunity. I have given through my talk on YouTube (youtube.com/hamsayogi), the scientific explanation of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, the Trinity in the Indian religion of Sanatana Dharma [also called Hinduism].
So this is what I’m working on. Scientists have also been working. I have experienced certain of these stages. I do not have billion dollar laboratories to work with, but we have the laboratory of our own body in which we can work and get an experience through our intense inward journey and concentration and meditation. I’m sure that modern science with its external objective approach, and Indian Yogis and Yogic Science with their internal subjective approach will someday reach the same truth. But let me tell you, this is still not a subject of intellectual discussion or speculation. This is a subject of personal experience.
VM: By practicing Kriya Yoga?
Yogiraj: Yes, by practicing Kriya Yoga, stilling the breath and going into an inward ecstasy of expanded consciousness, then intensifying that consciousness to be stiller than stillness itself, until you see a rising star within your innermost being which cannot be described, as it’s ineffable. And when you penetrate that star of Lightless-Light, then you are in the Supreme Reality of Everywhere and the Nowhere.
VM: Most people understand our Sun is the source of life on our planet. Recent studies show that humans are directly connected to the Sun and Sunlight can affect our DNA. Does the Sun have consciousness which is able to influence mankind?
Yogiraj: Well from my side, being from the land of India, we have great mantras and we have Shlokas (verses) in praise of the Sun—and He is definitely a very potent force. We believe in India that the Sun has an informing Spirit, and the informing Spirit goes by the name of Vivaswat, and He informs the spirit of our Sun. He is variously called Agni, Kashyap, Aditya, Vivaswat, Surya, Bhaskar, Arka, [and] Dinkara, and He is the Supreme God, we believe, of our Solar System. He rides in a chariot throne of fire, and I’ve explained to people and clarified that it is He, Lord Vivaswat—the Sun—who truly lights the Markaba. (Markaba means, The Moving Throne of Light or the Chariot Throne of Fire. And the Sun rides this chariot across the heavens through the Signs of the Zodiac, taking with him his family of all the planets.)
We also believe that not only the Sun, but all of the planets have an informing Spirit of their own; otherwise it is not likely that these planets, along, most importantly, with the Sun, would affect the affairs of humankind and all other things in the Solar System.
Once a person asked me a question: “How do you say the planets and the stars affect the affairs of men and how are we connected with them?” So I gave him an example. I said, “Do you believe that the high tide and the low tide are affected by the moon?” And he said, “Yes, of course, it’s a known scientific fact that the Moon governs the high tides and low tides in the ocean.” So I told him that means the Moon is affecting the fluid of this earth. So he said, “Yes.” I asked him a question: “How much percent fluid does a human body have in it?” So he said, “80 percent.” [Laughing] So I said, “There you are, just like the Moon is affecting the fluid in the body, the Sun is affecting the life force energy that we call the Prana in the human body, by virtue of which we live and move and have our being. We are all floating in the plasma of the Sun. It is the soup of the Sun and his magnetic radiance, and no human being, mortal or even Devas, can live without sustaining themselves from his divine magnetic and electromagnetic energy.”
It’s not only a scientific fact, but an age-old belief in India, [and] we have all these praises to the Sun. I myself have cultivated and developed a technique called Siddhanath Surya Yoga in which I have created a technique of absorbing the spiritual vitality of the Sun. I have this poem called an “Ode to the Surya” in my book, “Dewdrops of the Soul,” in which I have said “Drink ‘O’ drink thee Sun of Life, Thy roaring radiance rinse me through…” Such is the power of the Sun that he not only gives you nourishment, Prana, and life energy, but he makes you divine and knowing and radiant like himself.
VM: In Sri Yukteshwar’s book, “The Holy Science,” he mentions that our Sun is a part of a binary star system. Research into this theory is being conducted by the Binary Research Institute. Do you think the companion star of our Sun affects our planets in our solar system and will be played out more in the upcoming years?
Yogiraj: This star is approximately 250 million to 300 million years from our planet and now the time is coming for the 300 million [year] cycle to be completed. This is the reign of one spiritual king of 300 million years. Sri Yukteshwar is one such Manu. In a day of Brahma, there are 14 such cycles where a World King [and] a Spiritual King rule for 300 million years each.
Fourteen such periods of 300 million years each comprise the periods of 14 such Manus which compose one day of Brahma, our Creator, which is 4 billion, 320 million years. The duration of our Creation—which is 311 trillion, 120 billion, 420 million years—is the great Indian Calendar. And Mayans definitely learnt from the Indians. They were taught by the great Indian Yogi Bhog-Nath who was later known as Bogar-Nath. He went to South America and taught not only the Mayans, but the Aztecs, and all the people there. And he transported himself astrally, by spiritual light.
Now, let me get back to the question of the Star. The Binary Star is situated in the constellation Pleiades, and the name of the star is Magayanti. So, the companion star of our Sun is Magayanti. And these binary stars, when they contact or circulate, that is, when they cross certain points in their movement in Deep Space, they create a certain change. That point depicts a certain change of time, a change of spiritual guard from one Ascended Master to another Ascended Master, like our Lord Vaivaswat Manu [who] has completed 300 million years of evolving many world cycles and humanities. And now he will hand over the charge from 250 to 300 Million years—giving that [50 million years] time of transition—to the next World King or Manu Savarni who, according to me, is none other than Sri Yukteshwar—the Gyan Avatar, Sri Yukteshwar. So this change will also involve the handing over of the charge of World Teacher from Kalki Maitreya to the Yoga Avatar, Lahiri Mahasaya.
VM: Throughout history many cultures speak of times they were visited from extraterrestrials. Many lost civilizations, like the Mayans, say that these visitors will one day return. For the first time in US history, the FBI and NASA have released classified documents to the public regarding the UFO phenomena. UFO reports worldwide are at an all-time high. Has there been an interaction between these visitors and primitive man? If so, how have these visitors influenced mankind spiritually, and do you believe they will return any time soon.
Yogiraj: You see, there is a difference in interpretation between the Eastern thought from India and modern contemporary thought from the New Age, which is coming up in places like Europe and America. But let me tell you, our relationship with what you call the aliens is “as old as the hills.”
We call them Avatars, divine descent—all these great people like the Christ, the Krishna, Zarathustra who, in your Western terminology, may be called aliens and who, in our Eastern terminology, are called our Solar and Lunar ancestors who went before us in robes of light, evolving before us. They had evolved thousands of billions of years before us into their own Supreme Godhood through our divine solar orb. And now with their compassion, they have come back to assist on the earth with [their] spiritual evolution. Call them Avatars, or call them aliens, call them Messiahs, call them Saviors of Mankind. If I were to be a Master of that stature, I would be a descending Avatar and I will be an alien to you. But “alien” is a word of the ignorant. They’re not called aliens. They are closer to us than our Mind is closer to our Bodies; they’re called “Your very own,” for they are the Breath of your breath, the Blood of your blood, the Spirit of your Soul; such Lords are they. Amen.
After 2012 when aliens have become prominent and they start their work, then it will also be proved that they are not aliens but they are their very own. You cannot alienate something that has evolved us to our present state.
VM: I remember from one of your talks last year you said, “Don’t expire before 2012 transpires” [Laughter from Yogiraj]; is there something exciting on the horizon we should look forward to?
Yogiraj: [laughter] In America, you will see in certain houses where there are hikers and campers—if you look in their houses in the cellar—emergency equipment, for an emergency habitat. It has clothes, first aid kits, dehydrated food, torch lights, and all essential things. And should there be an emergency of an earthquake, or moving of the tectonic plate, they would just pick up that kit and leave the house. They keep this ready as a second life, a back-up system as they call it. So the back-up for 2012, as I have said, is to ingest more light.
This light from the Sun will save you from all cataclysms and all holocausts. Holocausts are human and cataclysms are natural or geographic. Therefore, I advise them to do Surya Yoga, which I have evolved, to ingest more light to avert a crisis, and also to do more Agni Yoga (the Fire Yoga). The Fire Yoga consists of Kriya Yoga, which is the Prana Apana Yagya (Yogic Fire Rite). I thus informed all of everything that you need to do so as not to expire before, during, or after 2012. Not to expire before 2012 transpires. [laughter]
VM: According to your book, “Wings to Freedom,” you attended a Catholic school where you studied the New Testament and Jesus Christ’s teachings. Many people are concerned about the “end of days” and “Judgment Day.” What are your feelings surrounding “Judgment Day,” and are we at the “end of days?”
Yogiraj: I will explain to you first my thought and then I will tell you Jesus’ thought. I feel that it is pointless to worry about that which is not in your control. It is an exercise in futility to fret and fume over results or rewards that you are going to get for your deeds over which you have no control, because if worry could solve the problem, then worry the whole day, but if meditation and Kriya Yoga can solve the problem, which it can, then do Kriya Yoga.
Now what Jesus meant by the Judgment Day was that when the earth is in imbalance in its activities—physical, emotional, and mental—the Messiah always descends to correct the imbalance and to balance these activities by giving people the just retribution and meting out the proper justice.
And this retribution that will be given is for all deeds. Men suffer due to bad deeds and men enjoy if they have done good deeds. Thus, if they have done good deeds, they will enjoy the fruits thereof, and Jesus will be the dispenser of those fruits; and if they have done bad deeds, they will regret it and suffer for those bad deeds of which the Christ consciousness shall also be the dispenser. When I say Jesus, it is not actually Jesus; it is the Christ consciousness which is the real universal principle in the Christ. Jesus is the man and Christ is the divinity which pervades in love and justice for the whole world. So I’m talking about the Christ consciousness—the Second Advent of Christ. You don’t say the Second Advent of Jesus, you say the Second Advent of Christ. Jesus may also be also one of the ascended masters who has to obey the Christ, and at His behest, perform certain duties with the other great masters of the world. So, by Judgment Day we mean meting out the proper justice that each of us deserves.
VM: What is Karma? And does the system of Kriya Yoga affect individual and collective Karma?
Yogiraj: Yes, now individual Karma is for individual evolution. It is the law of retribution; your individual present explains your individual past—to each one is allotted his exact and proper task. To the Truth is Truth begot, the Liar gets his own, so do such actions whose reactions you don’t moan. This is Karma.
Now, the coming of the Christ is not to do with individual Karma—it’s too slow—but for the world Karma. To speed the World Disciple on his evolutionary path, he has to come collectively and mete out justice to thousands and millions and billions of people, and this is why the Second Advent of Christ is necessary. It’s not individual Karma that the Christ is dealing with. It is the world Karma that the Kalki Avatar or the Christ or Krishna will be dealing with, and that is Judgment Day. It is a collective meting out of justice to the billions of people in the world. That is what the Second Advent of the Christ and Judgment Day is about.
VM: Is the Kriya Yoga you teach the same practice as the one taught by Swami Yogananda and the Self-Realization Fellowship?
Yogiraj: The Kriya Yoga is the same as taught by Paramahamsa Yogananda to his Indian disciples, some who are in the Himalayas, some who are in Rishikesh and Badrinath. The Kriya Yoga taught by Yogananda to the West and to America is the same, but I feel that it is diluted greatly and its dilution shall be sharpened when people come to India and learn the true techniques. The techniques of Paramahamsa Yogananda compared to the techniques of Sri Yukteshwar and Lahiri Mahasaya seem to be of the same type. The difference is that they are just milder; the difference is in degree and intensity of practice, not in kind. So, there is harmony between the techniques of Paramahamsa Yogananda, Sri Yukteshwar who is his Guru, and Sri Yukteshwar’s Guru Lahiri Mahasaya who got it directly from Babaji in the autumn of 1861.
VM: Will every human soul be liberated from Earth?
Yogiraj: Liberation is a relative term. When a plant evolves to become an animal it is liberated. When an animal evolves to become a man, it is liberated. When a man evolves to an angel, it is liberated. When an angel evolves into a god, one in God, he is liberated.
Yogiraj Siddhanath’s Mission and a Message to Humanity from Babaji, the greatest spiritual Master of all Time
VM: What is the message of the Masters of Himalayan Yoga to the world? Do they have a mission here?
Yogiraj: The mission of the ascended masters and even higher masters is Evolution. And here is their message to humanity. Love included, compassion included, and wisdom included, the masters to Humanity and to the World Disciples say the following words: “I am the Sun, you are my Ray, you must become the Whole, by ceaseless Kriya practice, I your Spirit shall unfold; the Ray becomes the blazing Sun, yourself as Me Behold. Om Namaha Shivaya!” This is the message of the Greatest Initiate and Divine Being of all time—Shiva Gorakshanath Babaji to Humanity and the World Disciple at Large.
VM: Is Babaji, whom you experience and have written about, the same Babaji that is spoken about in Swami Yogananda’s book, “Autobiography of a Yogi?”
Yogiraj: Yes, and to further elucidate on this truth on Shiva Goraksha Babaji, I have written a book called “Babaji, the Lightning Standing Still,” where I describe all of his holographic dimensions and inner dimensions, about the terrestrial Babaji, the celestial Babaji, the cosmic Babaji, and the infinite Babaji, which is a must-read for in-depth seekers of truth.
VM: When will it become available to the public?
Yogiraj: In about four month’s time. [Release month is October 2011.]
VM: Will you be narrating this book as you did “Wings to Freedom” so it will be available as an audio book?
Yogiraj: I definitely will. The electronic media is vital to the spreading of the message of the evolution of human consciousness—flooding the heart with love, so that humanity can live in peaceful coexistence.

Seeking - From God to Man and Back

by Yogiraj Gurunath Sidddhanath

The task of conscious evolution calls for the embodiment of the soul into matter and subsequently the spiritualizing of matter

The true contribution, the essence of what India has to offer to the world is its spiritual wealth. Its expertise in the evolution of consciousness as a science is unparalleled by any other nation. The mindset and conscious abilities of the Indian people to sustain peace and courage during waves upon waves of foreign invasion is unique amongst the peoples of the earth. India is a land where people spend a lifetime making it their business to seek God, and nothing else. The very term ‘Bharat’ means the land whose people are wedded to the light of God! ‘Bha’ means light of God; ‘rat’ means those who strive to be one with this light.

From time immemorial, the science of yoga – the science of the evolution of human consciousness – has been the most comprehensive enterprise ever undertaken by humanity, besides which the greatest of human achievements pale into insignificance. The end of physical evolution is the perfection of the mammalian form. The end of mental evolution is the perfection of the human mind. And the end of spiritual evolution is the full expression of one’s consciousness of natural enlightenment. From the prehistoric animal man with his mind enmeshed in the senses, we have gradually evolved to the human man with his mind centred in the intellect. And now we must follow the evolutionary process of yoga whereby we may become divine beings expressing our consciousness of natural enlightenment, Sahaj Samadhi.

This is where we are going, in spite of ourselves.  Because the galactic swirl is towards Divinity. Therefore, we cannot help but flow in that course of direction.

Of course, karma decides the evolutionary process – of individuals and of civilizations. Everything is connected to everything else. If a stone is thrown into the placid, crystal lake of Mansarovar, the ripples will affect the whole lake. We have to hold ourselves responsible for whatever happens, good or bad, and make the essential effort. It is on the basis of karma that one is reborn and comes into samsar. To get out of the cycle of samsar, you have to work out or dissolve karma. Sanatan philosophy is based on three things – karma, which leads you to punar janma (rebirth), which leads you to be born into samsar to fulfil your desires. After you have fulfilled your desires, propelled by the desire to go back to your parent source, you break the cycle of birth and death by yoga and tapasya.

Maya or illusion, the cosmic drama played out on the screen of the universal mind, is not easy to understand. Maya means that which appears to be what it is not. So it is a mirage that is created in the world scenario for the soul to pass through and learn its lessons of life. The foundation of maya is built on relativity. Maya is a fast-flowing universal mind substance which is composed of subatomic particles called raja, sattva and tama guna, which corresponds with the electron, proton and neutron. Once we transcend the state of relativity, we go beyond maya. But while we live in maya, for that moment of time it is real for us.

It is necessary for human life to first gain experience in maya and then evolve its way up to its own spiritual self. First comes the involution of consciousness into matter and then evolution of matter into consciousness. The human soul, in order to complete its cycle of evolution, gets engrossed in the various sheaths of the body, the mental sheath, the emotional sheath, the etheric sheath, and finally, in the womb, the material sheath of flesh and bones. It gets more and more restricted as, in relative sequence by various permutations and combinations of molecules, it becomes denser. In this descending arc of involution called the pravritti marg, the soul descends more and more into the material world, garnering the experiences of joy and sorrow, right and wrong, bad and good in the world of relativity.

After having satisfied all its desires in the material world, being buffeted by raag (attraction) and dvesh (repulsion) in its lust for life, and having learnt its lessons, the inner spirit of the soul then pushes it forth gradually towards the nivritti marg, which is the evolutionary path of renunciation and detachment to all worldly pleasures of samsar. Then it completes its cycle of evolution as it ascends, and as it becomes more and more transparent by yogic and spiritual practices, the flame of its soul expresses more and more of its innate spiritual radiance. The yogi then makes an ash heap of both vice and virtue, knowing it is in the realm of relativity and seeks the singular truth, the merging of the finite consciousness with the Infinite Consciousness.

Within each one of us is this mystic, inconceivable, indescribable silence and love, and the urge to return to this natural state, the sahaj samadhi. The yogi then stands triumphant in his knowledge, for there is nothing on the earthly or heavenly sphere of which he is ignorant. Having drunk of the fountain of wisdom, he is the enlightened one and has fulfilled the purpose of his being!
